Fransiska Mawar Menik, Director of PanEuro Group, and Paul Gardner Brook, Chief Executive Officer, have issued a joint clarification following recent Indonesian media reports linking their names and international business activities to speculation surrounding the electricity disruption in Batam.
PanEuro Group has never conducted business in Indonesia, nor has it discussed, proposed, arranged or participated in financing any data-centre project in Batam. Neither executive has engaged in such activities personally or on behalf of the Group. Any suggestion that a rejected PanEuro financing proposal contributed to the present controversy is without factual foundation.
What PanEuro Group does, and where.
PanEuro Group is an international corporate advisory and specialist capital structuring organisation operating from London and Singapore. Its activities span complex corporate transactions, infrastructure, energy, natural resources, real estate and strategic asset financing.
Among its specialist capabilities is the structuring of substantial, long-duration equity financing through institutional investment syndicates that bring together international pension funds to finance major infrastructure and strategic assets. This approach is designed to align patient institutional capital with the long-term economic characteristics of significant projects, providing an alternative to conventional debt-dependent financing structures.
The Group's international activities also encompass the financing requirements of digital infrastructure, including data centres supporting the expansion of artificial intelligence. PanEuro's published research and executive commentary have examined the increasingly critical relationship between AI development, electricity generation, infrastructure capacity and global capital markets.
These international activities are entirely separate from the Batam electricity controversy and do not involve any commercial activity or financing proposal in Indonesia.
Expertise is not involvement.
Reliable energy infrastructure and access to long-term investment capital are essential to economic development. These are matters we understand through our international work. But professional expertise in an industry should never be confused with commercial involvement in a particular project.
We respect the importance of public scrutiny and responsible journalism. Equally, when individuals and businesses are publicly associated with serious allegations, the distinction between documented facts and speculation must remain absolute.
Fransiska Mawar Menik and Paul Gardner Brook
Fransiska Mawar Menik and Paul Gardner Brook reaffirm their respect for Indonesia's institutions and the importance of reliable electricity services to Batam's residents and businesses. They support transparent, evidence-based reporting and the proper processes for establishing the facts.
